Fuenteheridos: Historical and Artistic Heritage

In Molinos de Fuenteheridos you can simply enjoy our facilities and gardens or go for a walk or a bike ride to Fuenteheridos, just a few minutes from the Superior Rural House. Fuenteheridos is a village declared Artistic and Historical Heritage because of its picturesque architecture and streets paved with limestone, with an enviable location surrounded by forests of chestnuts trees, cork oaks, holm oaks and Gall oaks.

On the other hand, Fuenteheridos is one of the most preferred places for accommodation for tourists who wish to explore Sierra de Huelva. You will find below some advice about places to enjoy and make the most of your visit to this area of Andalusia, a true gem that you will surely love.

Charming nearby villages

Very close to Fuenteheridos, at only 10 minutes, you will find the lovely village of Aracena, the largest in the area. It has supermarkets, banks, specialised shops and points of tourist interest that you will love for sure. In Aracena you will be able to visit the incredible and magical Gruta de las Maravillas (the Wonders Cave), the Aracena Castle (13th century) or to enjoy its tasteful gastronomy and its Iberian Cured Ham Museum.

In Sierra de Huelva you will find history and tradition in several villages. Amongst them, we recommend visiting Almonaster la Real or Cortegana, whose castle is one of the best preserved in the area and hosts a popular Medieval Fair, celebrated every year in August. On the north, Cumbres Mayores, among other places. And at just a few minutes from Fuenteheridos, a unique viewpoint in the Sierra, in Peña de Arias Montano, near Álajar and Linares de la Sierra, places that we recommend keeping in your travelling notebook.

Main attractions of the area: nature and gastronomy

Some of the activities offered in Sierra de Aracena y Picos de Aroche Natural Park, declared Biosphere Reserve by the UNESCO, are related to the chance to enjoy nature or gastronomy. Those who love hiking will find many hiking routes and ecotourism with local guides, as well as mushroom and chestnut gathering.

You will also be able to plan and enjoy horse riding routes through our forests in the mountain, great for both adults and children.

We recommend you not to miss the chance to taste the exquisite local gastronomy: Iberian pork, cheese, mushrooms, vegetables grown in local gardens and, of course, the most popular product: the Iberian cured ham. The Huelva Iberian cured ham has a well appreciated certificate of origin, and in Aracena you will be able to visit Museo del Jamón (Museum of Cured Ham), an interesting activity for the lovers of this delicacy.

At reception we will be able to recommend you some local typical restaurants if you need so, as well as provide you information about the hiking routes around us and reservations for any of the activities mentioned.

For those who come with lots of free time

As we have already explained, Molinos de Fuenteheridos is located in the heart of the Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche Natural Park, in the western area of Dehesas de Sierra Morena Biosphere Reserve. From there, if you are visiting us with free time and willing to tour around, you will love to know that the historical city of Seville is at just a little more than 1 hour distance, Huelva and its wonderful coast of lovely beaches at one hour and a half, and the chance to explore Portugal at just 70 km.
